Sailor Jerry x 3 Amigo’s - UK
This project was the first time working in London and my first time working with Sailor Jerry on an ‘official’ merchandise collaboration - which was both a huge and pretty cool moment for me as this was something I had always worked and strived for since the beginning.
The collaboration was an initiative was to show some love to and support to one of London’s first and last remaining skater-owned skateshops, The Three Amigo's. The collaboration and merch was to be based around the mural that I was to paint on the exterior of the shop.
That said, before I get into it, I want to start by quickly making a point of thanking Dave once for the opportunity and incredible hospitality - It was such an epic and incredible experience.
The Designs
As the official launch party was taking place just days after I was due to arrive in London, I had to work ahead of time to give us enough time to have the merch made for the launch itself.
As the collaboration was for apparel and yep, you guessed it, a skateboard - I had to create a couple of different variations. The first step was to hand paint them before digitising the work & sending the ‘print ready’ files over to the UK.
The Collection
The collection consisted of a Steen Jones x Sailor Jerry x 3 Amigo’s tee, skateboard and fine art and digital prints.
The fine art prints were hand-numbered and finished with my signature wax seal for the VIP Guests. The digital prints were gifted to everyone that came along to celebrate on the day/night.
The Mural
I landed in London, dropped my gear off and got straight to work! I was both so excited to start and nervous that I would run out of time/ruin everything that I didn’t and couldn’t waste a second. I was that eager (or scared) that I essentially pumped out the majority within the first 24 hours of being in London.
That said, I was now 2-ish days ahead of schedule - which meant I had the perfect opportunity to rest and get over jet-lag before the big event …or enquire about and paint the next-door neighbours wall instead. I went with the latter and Camden had a new Sailor Jerry inspired panther/snake mural.
The Launch
Party time! We "officially" kicked off the event around 2pm and were packed till close. The band started at 4pm - which was around the same time everyone was buzzed and bowling with their heads.
I’m still blown away with the response and support and that we almost sold out of the decks before the event even started! That said, I’d like to thank everyone that came by and showed love - you have no idea how special it was or how grateful I am!
Till next time!!
