LIONS DEN TATTOO 2
A new shop and another fun project/s with my friends at Lions Den Tattoo/Good Company Golf Club - this time in Old Town, San Diego. As always, Mike gave me creative control with the space - so started out the front before moving into the venue.
I started with painting the lower half of the building dark to remove all of the distractions (ie different coloured letterboxes, conduits, parking kerbs etc) and generally clean it up - putting the focus onto the signage up top that I painted. Then I moved into that ugly caged entrance area - which was not only the first thing you saw from the front but also a big part of shop inside. Absolute nightmare - but needed and worth the wax.
GOOD COMPANY
After the front, I focused on the Good Company side first(left)which included branding in the lobby and a bunch of mixed branding and artwork inside the golf simulator room.
LIONS DEN TATTOO
With the rest of the building done, it was time for the tattoo shop - which included this big ol’ eagle and small panther out the front. The panther was a piece of cake but the eagle was a big push as we had to strip the room down, cover it all, build scaffold, paint, pull scaffold down, set the shop back up and clean within 2 days (1 night) whilst the shop was shut and before my flight out to NYC.
We didn’t miss our tradition of wrapping up and celebrating with a cheeky Vegas trip - we caught up at end of my trip for international fight week and catch a UFC card - this time it was UFC 290: Volkanovki vs. Rodriguez.
