The trip that was supposed to work out perfect buuuut ended up being a nightmare.

It was right when COVID-19 was really starting to take effect. Prior to this particular visit, I was in Barcelona with mi amor for 3 months (which is another story in itself) so we watched the pandemic unfold almost in the epicentre (not to mention we were in Northern Italy in February) so by this stage (this was late March) things were really starting to get scary. In fact, upon arriving, I got a message from Mum telling me that Australia was stopping all in-bound flights and closing the borders within a few days… so yeah, my 2 weeks holiday didn’t go exactly as planned.

I arrived, got straight to work, painted this on the first night, painted Colin a canvas/gift on the second and flew out the following morning. Not only was I shattered that I had now been to Scotland 5 times within a 3 year period without a single day off, I had to leave mi amor and Europe early. 3 flights and $10,000 odd dollars later, I managed to make it home on the last flight into the country before the first lockdown. Wasn’t exactly how I saw it playing out, but gotta look at the bright side. Thanks again for having me Colin.

Annnnyways, as always, was great to visit the fam and leave my mark. I had never painted a floor anything of this scale before so wasn’t sure how it would go - but couldn’t be more stoked ...and wouldn’t have been more devastated if the clear epoxy over the top didn’t work out.
