Melbourne

A tribute to the city where my (street) art began. MARCS (Music, Art, Restaurant, Cocktail, Sound) Festival took place in the world famous Duckboard Place and ACDC laneway in the heart of Melbourne city and was the perfect opportunity.

The mural has been snapped countless times and shared by proud Melbournians and tourists including many A-list celebrities and sports-stars such as Dua Lipa (Singer/Songwriter), Paul Pierce (NBA hall of famer), Luke Rockhold (UFC), Jack Miller (MotoGP) to name a few.

The mural has also attracted alot of global attention across television, web and print platforms - with features on The Ellen Show, UFC, Moto GP, Australian Open, The Block, NCIS and in Vogue Magazine Italia and multiple newspapers, in-flight and tourism magazines from all over the world.

It has also been used for many campaigns - with Harley Davidson, Qantas, Adidas Tennis, Nike and Mitsubishi to name a few.

Biggest thank you to Authority Creative for the opportunity and everyone that has helped make this into the mural that it is today!

“The murals are big here, and none bigger than Steen Jones’ towering multi-storey tribute to Melbourne in Duckboard Place. His bold tattoo-style design featuring roses and a butterfly pays homage to the city. On a much smaller scale, you’ll find one of our last Banksy rats, which used to lurk all over the CBD.”

Most recently, the mural was selected by Delta Airlines (USA) for their global #DeltaInstaTrips contest - which had me representing Australia and headed to Los Angeles to launch the competition and re-creating the artwork on the world famous Melrose Avenue. That said, my favourite part about the mural is that it wouldn’t have become what it is today - if I wasn’t willing to forfeit some of my artist fee to help fund and make the mural as large and impactful as possible. Crazy how life works! Dream Big!
